MEET OUR TEAM

DR PATRICK MUSTO

MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Since 2016, I have made it TrailMed’s challenge to deliver comprehensive medical care to participants of events and expeditions in the UK and across the globe, no matter the austerity or remoteness of the environment. I strive to foster the development of wilderness and expedition medicine and support TrailMed staff to develop their careers and achieve their personal goals in expedition, remote and humanitarian medicine. Born in Zimbabwe and educated in Cape Town, I have gone on to enjoy 30 years as an anaesthetic consultant in Leicester alongside countless sporting, cultural and charity events as Chief Medical Officer for TrailMed. Beyond the medical world, I’m an avid pilot of aircraft and gliders, as well as coaching others as an EASA Flight Instructor.

TRAILMED INTERNATIONAL TEAM

DR LIAM MUSTO

Scaling summits and discovering breathtaking vistas-no better feeling, am I right! Originating from Southern Africa, you are just as likely to find me sporting scrubs and wielding a stethoscope as donning crampons and gripping an ice axe. I'm a dedicated academic vascular surgeon, but when outside the hospital, I am usually preparing the latest Trailmed adventure or out training for an ultra-marathon or mountain ascent. As one of the international leads at Trailmed, my mission extends beyond the operating theatre-I'm dedicated to supporting adventure!

RAT RACE LEAD

DR JASMINE WINYARD

I’m thrilled to be working with TrailMed as Ultra X International Medical Lead. I have enjoyed working with TrailMed on U.K. and overseas events, alongside completing the WEM/ University of Exeter MSc Extreme Medicine. Outside of TrailMed, I locum in Emergency Medicine in Nottingham, teach on the Patient Safety module at the University of Leicester and do some remote clinical reviews for my old department. Having completed a research project on Women’s Health (especially period health) on expeditions, I am looking to develop this work as we work with our business partners to support adventure.

ULTRA X LEAD

DR HARRISON BANKS

My day job sees me working as an ED registrar in one of the busiest major trauma centres in the UK. When I’m not experiencing the extremes in central Manchester, you’ll find me out climbing and trail-running in the UK or seeking adventure abroad as an expedition medic, chasing the northern lights or scaling peaks in Patagonia. I’m excited to be joining the International Medical Lead team alongside Jasmine and Liam and together we are looking forward to supporting you to get out working on some brilliant expeditions too!
